Best Practices for In-Person Lessons at Mike Risko Music
We want our students to have the best lessons. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your lessons at Mike Risko Music.
  • Make sure you know your regular lesson day and time.
  • Make sure to gather your things together early on the day of your lesson so you don't have to look for anything. Be sure to bring your books, assignment book and a pencil. If you also bring an instrument, make sure to pack that too.
  • If you instrument requires any preparation like tuning, be sure to do that before your lesson so you can get right to the lesson when you arrive.
  • Students check in at the front desk, make sure you do any health screening in advance or on line. If you plan to fill it out when you arrive, leave yourself a few extra minutes,
  • Always use hand sanitizer upon arrival. Don't forget to wear a tight fitting mask.
  • Be on time for your lesson. If you are dropping off a child be sure to bring the child in. We are asking all parents and care takers to wait in their car at this time in order for us keep the space as clear as possible.
  • Make sure to come in and pick up your child at the exact time. The teachers will always write a clear and concise homework assignment in your assignment pad.
  • If you need to schedule anything, please call the office during business hours at 914-762-8757.
  • Make sure we have a good email on file for you, we send out frequent reminders about lessons, recitals and more and you can get all that info by being on our email list.
  • In the event of snow, check your email to see if we will be providing virtual links for that day.
  • We ask students kindly give us 24 hours notice in the event they need to schedule a makeup lesson but
